If you are struggling in your MLM, it’s because you haven’t learned to market smarter; rather than harder. Read on!
What I see network marketing newbies do quite often is, try to sell a business opportunity to people who don’t give a shit.
It WILL not work for a very simple reason: They have a very different mindset; I could say “narrow” but I won’t. Oops!
When you ( a network marketer) hear “work from home“, you get juiced and see an opportunity to become an entrepreneur.
What they are thinking in their head is: This is a scheme. This dude wants my money. I will NOT be ripped off like those other guys in the news……and so on.
In a nutshell: You can’t sell a business opportunity to someone who is not looking for one. GET THAT!
Here is where my first tip comes in:
Say Less to More People.
When you’re out there prospecting, your job is not to sell, but to share. You’re not out there to hammer your business opportunity in your prospect’s face 6 zillion times. You are simply there to invite them to watch a presentation or attend a webinar and so on. That’s it!
Keep in mind; that you have to come from a place inside you that radiates: You don’t give a rat’s ass whether they sign up, join your business, or even watch the webinar. Who cares what they decide to do? It’s not your job to worry about it. The ball is in their court, let them do the worrying! You gave them the opportunity- and with that you gave them EVERYTHING. Period.
Don’t be the Tool!
Let your tools ( website, video, or an audio cd) do the selling for you! That’s why they were designed.
Just picture this for a second:
Have you ever wanted to go out with somebody who you thought was very good looking?
If you walked up to that person and said: ”I think you should go out with me. I’m awesome, and we are gonna have so much fun! You are really gonna like me, and I am a great kisser, and so on.”
What are the chances of that person saying: ”Sure, I think you are awesome too! Let’s kiss!!”
I would say slim to none.
The fact that the person has to sell him or herself on the idea of going out with them. You cannot hammer something into someone’s mind, that they don’t want.
The same is true for a home based business. Nothing is more repelling in this industry than when a network marketer who acts needy. It’s actually the opposite of magnetic sponsoring; the very thing I’m teaching you here.
Marketing your opportunity is not about selling, it is about sharing.
Do not get attached to the outcome. You gotta master that mindset when you go out prospecting.
“He who cares less holds the power.”
Go for the “NO!”
Instead of going out and trying to close a deal with everyone , try something else. Try to get as many “no’s” as you can, instead of trying to get people to say “yes.” It helps to shift your mindset. All of a sudden there is no pressure on you because you purposely choose to be willing to fail. Go out there and start getting the “NO’s!” That’s your goal!
Eventually with the “no’s” the “yesses” will start pouring in.
Share it with others.

Hi Akos,
Excellent advise here …. we do need to change our attitudes if we want to succeed.
The quickest way to drive people away is to be desperate … as you said don’t care if they join just tell your story.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

I think that’s one of the biggest mistake in network marketing is to push your biz opp. especially to people who don’t even want to hear about “your next big thing” LOL.
Thanks for the input, Bryan.

Hi Akos,
Excellent post, great way to look at MLM. I like what you said about go for the no. It’s a numbers game, the more no’s the more likely it is to get yeses here and there.
I also like what you said about people have to be interested in what you are offering.
Your post takes a lot of pressure off selling efforts. Thanks for being real,
Terry Conti

Hello Terry,
It is a numbers game. I forgot to point that out in the video…oh well I forgot to do a lots of things in the video. There are lot more to add to it.
In attraction marketing there should be no pressure involved from the “attractor”
I appreciate your views, Terry!

its all in the mindset. if you want success it is all provided to you by the law of attraction, 99% of people miss this concept

Hi Akos,
I tell my team to never take nos personally. I also tell them that nos frequently turn into yesses at some point. We just need to share our opportunities with others. There is no need to convince anyone of anything. Either they see the opportunity or they don’t. If they don’t, then, next!!!
May 16, 2012 at 10:18 pm
he who cares less holds the most power – that kinda stood out to me. it’s interesting because many people don’t think like that, but i get what you mean about the neediness. your tools and the products (if they’re good products) should do most of the talking. i think that also establishes a little trust. i tend to not trust people that are too pushy or over-do the talking/selling.

Hey Akos,
I just love your website, it is so fresh and so clean (is that a song) anyway. I love your tips. I tell people to keep it simple. I see people getting all tied up in sales pitches and falling over scripts and I just want to shake them.
What was with the red oven glove?

Hello Akos, I agree, there’s no point in giving a presentation to someone who doesn’t even want to have a business. Best to qualify people first, and find out if they’re interested. If they’re not, then talk about something else or leave them alone.
Regards from Julieanne
May 25, 2012 at 5:14 pm
Hey Julieanne,
Exactly. It reminds me of when I was in elementary school where the teacher used to say: “You don’t study for us, you study for yourself” . Of course we didn’t get it back then. Now, I have more hunger for knowledge than ever before. But I had to get to this point where I read because I want to and not because the teachers told me to do so.
Same with offering a business opportunity for somebody. They have to sell themselves.
thnx for dropping by and sharing your insight!

Hi Akos,
Really enjoyed reading your post Akos. Nice and to the point.
I do agree, share your opportunity and let prospects decide themselves if the want to buy. I think the ‘selling’ games is very difficult and probably best left to the experts.
Once you learn to get over-it and on-with-it after that first no or un-subscription, and take the advice you have given here, it does lighten things and makes it easier.
Thanks Akos
Take Care

Julie,
The most effective way of closing is letting the prospect sell him/herself on the idea.
Thank you Julie!

I like the “go for no” approach, the problem is a lot of people are thinking they’re going to hit it out of the ballpark with every person they talk to about their opportunity, that type of thinking is a recipe for disaster. Thanks for the helpful tips.
