How to Promote Yourself and Your Blog at a Conference

Promoting Yourself Out There

Get busy promoting yourself, your brand, your face. The best place to do that is where people expect you to do so; at a conference. Here are some of my tips on how to do that!

1. Business cards

Promote yourself at conferenceFirst of all you gotta have some unique business cards. We all know there are places we can get a zillion business cards for $9.99 but the problem with that is you get exactly what you pay for. A big pile of useless crap! You gotta have a hot business card that has a very unique feel to it.

Your card should  differentiate you from the crowd. Pick cards that are sturdy, nice or/and have bright colors, pick  a different shape and layout that you usually see others handing out. Check out my previous post on how and where to get hot unique business cards!

2. Deadly elevator speech

We all heard that you need to communicate what you do in an effective manner in 30 sec. or less.

So when the question is asked: “What do you do?”, you say what you do but also include what problems you are solving by doing what you do.

Let’s say you’re a network marketer  and you want to promote yourself in a successful manner then (if not, I’m not sure what you’re doing here :) just kiddin’ ) you can say : I’m a network marketer; I’m helping people to work from home.” or if you’re a Numis you may say: “I’m a network marketer at a company that helps people make the transition from ever decreasing paper money, into an asset that is growing in value”

3. Admission card

At a conference you carry a card on your shirt. That card usually has some space that you could fill in with your domain of your blog or website, twitter account or whatever you have. That’s another self-branding tool. If people see it, they can follow you instantly and they will remember who you are because they actually met you.

4. Interviewing others

The other day saw Empower Network hosting an event where a ton of people were just shooting videos of each other doing short (a couple of minutes) interviews. And guess where that video is going to end up? You got that one right! Video sharing sites!

Find a big name marketer dude or gal on your next event ask if you could make a short interview. People on a conference usually are liked to be interviewed. It’s a win-win. They want attention, that’s one of the reasons they’re there, their ego loves it. And you get their attention focused on you for a bit. And sure enough they will remember you when they get home, wondering if that interview made it on YouTube? :)

5. Do something out of the box

I saw a video of a guy who was walking around with an accordion strapped around him. Yep, on a convention man, walking around with this thing, playing Brittney Spears song. Holly shit, talk about self-branding. Guess who was the most photographed dude on that conference? You darn right he took the cake! So, am I suggesting to you to wear a bikini or start doing some bad ass juggling or something? Nope. Do something that sets you apart but won’t frighten other people.

So these are tips on who to self-brand yourself more effectively!

Show me you’re alive!!!!

Bafooooooooo!
